Did you know National Prosecco Week is June 11-16 with special events in New York, San Francisco, Miami, Denver, and Chicago? Gratitude Gourmet was invited to a Prosecco DOC Masterclass and Lunch led by Tim Marson, MW at 54 Mint San Francisco where we enjoyed Roma style gourmet cuisine with Prosecco pairings including a lovely Organic NV Prestige Prosecco Mionetto Extra Dry paired with Pannacotta. A Brief History “Ed or ora immolarmi voglio il becco con quel meloaromatico Prosecco” (And just now I wish to sacrifice my mouth to that apple-aromatic Prosecco), said Aureliano Acanti in his “Roccolo Ditirambo” in 1754. Prosecco was enjoyed even in Roman times because Pliny mentioned it in his “Historia Naturalis”, and it was in the late nineteenth century that Prosecco first underwent secondary fermentation to become the sparkling wine that we all know today.
