Nico's 1508 is now open in Berkeley, California serving cuisine prepared using mostly locally sourced and seasonal ingredients. When you walk in you will see a silver, black and pewter color scheme, lush curtains, an exposed wood plank ceiling, a skylight and romantic private booths. There is sidewalk café seating and a rooftop patio with a view of the Golden Gate Bridge.
We enjoyed a very nice dinner in a private booth and started with these two nice red wines:
. Dan Cohn "Bellacosa" Cabernet, California 14'
. If You See Kay "Super Tuscan", Lazio IT 14'
. Steamed Mediterranean Mussels Red Curry Kefer Lime Broth - ***You will Love the Server coming to your table with the mussels steaming, then adding white wine, then Red Curry Lime Broth. Very impressive presentation!
. Ahi Tina Poke Truffle Cream, Crispy Papadum
. Seared Salmon Filet with Roasted Couscous & Root Vegetables, Herb Jus, Black Truffles, Shallot Confit
. Pan Roasted Hawaiian White Walu with Braised Gennel & Fingerling Potato Salad, Meyer Lemon & Thyme Butter Sauce, Balsamic Reduction
. Side of Sautéed Mushrooms
Paired with this lovely white wine:
. Planeta Etna Bianco Carricante, Sicily IT 15"
**Both entrees were absolutely impressive, flavorful, and delightful. It was difficult to choose which one was our favorite.. so try both!! The white wine: Planeta Etna Bianco Carricante from Sicily was a lovely pairing with both entrees!
