I've been impressed with the SF Chefs, San Francisco's Premier Food, Wine, and Spirits Week. This year's event is August 9-15 at a variety of San Francisco venues and mainly centered at Union Square. You must check out the Schedule featuring a variety of specialty events from cooking classes, sommelier luncheons, margarita and gin demos, Grand Tastings, and dessert events!
